Image of Teachers Industrial Action

Dear Parent/Carer,

I write to give you advance notification of the industrial action planned by some of the teaching unions. As you may have heard in the local and national media, teacher members of the National Education Union (NEU) working in England’s schools have voted in favour of strike action, with several days of industrial action now planned in February and March. This action will have a significant impact on all schools nationally, including CHS South.

The provisional days of strike action we are aware of are:

  • Wednesday 1st February 2023
  • Tuesday 28th February 2023
  • Wednesday 15th March 2023
  • Thursday 16th March 2023

CHS South may have to close to some, or all, of our students on these days if the industrial dispute is not settled in advance. At this stage we are unclear exactly how this will impact on our school as the unions are in the process of consulting members. As yet I cannot provide definite details but will do so as soon as I can. I would ask all parents and carers to start to prepare alternative arrangements for the care of their children on this day.

I apologise for the limited information I can provide you with at present, however, I felt that you needed as much advance notice as possible. I will write to you as soon as I am able to detail how the strike action will affect our school and the provision we are able to make for students. I would like to assure you that as a school we will be using our best endeavours to minimise disruption to our students’ education.

Yours sincerely,

Mr. D. Prophet

Headteacher
